BiologyBase   Herp Image Index

One of a group of pond turtles in North America that are not only confusing to the average turtle watcher, but also to herpetologists. The entire group has been repeatedly revised taxonomically. As a group, pond turtles  are primarily carnivorous, and will eat live or dead fishes, along with anything else they can catch or come upon. Pond turtles spend a fair amount of their time out of the water sunning themselves on warm days.
