Arizona lies east of the mountains of southern California, west of the Continental Divide in New Mexico, and south of the Grand Canyon.
Arizona is mostly desert, which by no means indicates there is a lack of life there. Arizona has a huge number of species. The birds of Arizona are particularly well studied, because for about a century many renown ornithologists have retired there (and retirement for an ornithologist only means they don't get paid anymore - not that they quit working).
