Central America

BiologyBase World Map

Lying primarily in the tropical region on the mainland from Panama northward (where the northern border of the region is depends on who you talk to), Central America is multicultural and multilingual. The primary language of the area is Spanish, though there are many indigenous languages spoken in the region, and the national language of Belize is English.

As a major "highway" of biological interchange between North America and South America, the diversity of this region is very high.
