| The response to my Family History site has been literally overwhelming. I'm getting over 100 emails a
day, and I am not able to assist everyone personally. Your answer is probably here, so please read through the following answers to frequently asked questions. Thank you.
First, this web site is part of my personal site. There is no Organization here, just me, myself, and I (with some info provided by other family members who are credited as possible). I am a hobby genealogist and have no agenda, so far as I can tell, but to find out where I came from. I have provided the information on this site for fun and to share my work with others.

Do you have more information on....?
- All the information I have accessable is on the web. The rest is in process and will be put on the web as soon as I can get it there. I am unable to do look-ups at this time. It may seem like a long time since I last updated your section of the website, but I have over 30 megabytes of information here, so there is a lot to update.
What are my sources and why don't they agree with yours?
- Much of my information is unverified by primary evidence, though I have tried to verify most of it through two sources (which may or may not be truely independant). NONE of it should be taken as "proved". All information taken from the internet should be treated as suspect at best, outright lies at worst. I try to be only suspect, but I can not promise someone has not lied to me.
Can I have more Ridenour information?
- Elmer Ridenour and Melvin Ridenour supplied much Ridenour information beyond my immediate family. They should be consulted for more information on the Ridenour family.
What are the numbers in parentheses?
- The numbers after some of the names are artifacts of my genealogy software used to differentiate between individuals of the same name. They do not denote generation or anything else. In fact, they are often in reverse order, as I tend to work backward (child to parent), as all genealogists (should) do. Much to my dissapointment, some of these numbers are translated by Sparrowhawk (my ged to html converter) as surnames. There are too many to fix right now, I'm working on it, sorry.
How do I get started in genealogy?
- If you are just starting out, try contacting your local LDS (Mormon) Family History Center. Look in the Yellow Pages for your local LDS church and call them to find out where it is. They have many resources and I've found them to be extremely helpful to beginners - they got me started! They are NOT recruiters for Mormonism, and you need not be a Mormon to visit (I'm not), and they don't make you submit your results to them. The Family History Centers are a public service, and through them you have access to the largest library of genealogical information in the world. Many FHCs are on-line, see Cyndi's Genealogy site (see next answer) to find them.
Where can I find on the web...?
- For other internet resources, check my links page. Cyndi's is the best place to start if you don't see what you're looking for on my pages. It is the most truely comprehensive list of genealogy links anywhere. There's a link to her site at the top of my links page.
But I really want more information
- If you are looking for information not provided on an individual's web page, I don't have any more information. As I say in the Family History introduction, what I have is on the web. I actually have more info collected, but I don't have it organized, and looking up your answer may take hours. As it's organized, it'll be put on the web.
Can you send me information?
- I am always interested in receiving information on any family member. There is no need to ask if I want it, I do. BUT I need to know who the person is in my genealogy who fits you're information. The URL of that person's page would be most helpful. Note that there may be more than one person by the same name. Please include information in the body of messages, attachments are not opened. Please also include information on sources, if possible. GedCom files are welcome, but for those, please send me a note saying you'll be sending it, so I will open the attachment as I automatically delete any attachment I'm not prepared for. Information sent to me will eventually be put on the internet as part of my Family History.
Can I send you my GED file?
- Do you REALLY want to download a 30 megabyte file into your computer? I'm working on a way to split it up, and I'm working on a way to provide downloading online. Until then, I don't have the time (really) to send it from my computer as an email attachment. Once I have it posted, you'll be able to find it through my main index.
I have a question about Royalty...
- See also the Directory of Royal Genealogies, which is not part of my site but will probably have your information there. Please see your local Public Reference librarian for that information. Though I've been a Royal Watcher for decades, they have more info and are better qualified to find the answers your questions. Cyndi's (mentioned above) has links to some info that is on the internet. A couple Tidbits everyone seems to want to know - Windsor was taken by the family as their House name just before WWI because it sounded more English than Saxe-Coburg. Technically they have no last name. And one branch or other of the family has been on the throne for about 1500 years. Queen Elizabeth II can trace her ancestry back to Alfred the Great, first King of England and beyond that. Prince Phillip is a Prince of Greece, not of England - he is "merely" the consort of the Queen. When there's a King, he rules. Phillip was therefore not crowned King, since Elizabeth is the daughter of the previous King.
