Meetings
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at the Concord Public Library, 2900 Salvio, at Parkside Drive, Concord, from 12:50 to approximately 3 p.m.. Instead of meetings in July and August, there are other events held. In December, the meeting is replaced by a luncheon.
 
 
At each meeting:

Following a short business meeting, including announcements of upcoming area events and shows, we have an educational program by an invited artist with demonstrations of various art forms, or introducing us to different facets of the art world. Recent programs have included an introduction to textile arts and an "acrylic showcase."

At many meetings, we hold a "Mini-Art-Show" where members can display their recent original works. Mini-Art-Shows are open to all members, and there is no entrance fee. All members present vote for their favorites, and the winners (first, second and third places) get ribbons and mention in the next Newsletter. (Mini-Art-Shows are held at the Jan., Feb., Mar., April, May, Sept., Oct., and Nov. meetings). Non-Members are welcome to bring their work with them to show, but are not eligible for the ribbon competition.

Additionally we have a book drawing, with tickets are available for a small donation at each meeting. The winner picks among several donated books.

And of course refreshments - coffee and cookies!

Additional Show Activities:
The Association sponsors an ongoing rotating exhibit at the Clayton Community Library, and has various exhibit opportunities around the city. Shows at the Clayton Community Library are open shows.

We also hold an annual summer juried show at John Muir Hospital for members only. In 1999 it was held June 26 - August 6. It is held on similar dates each year.

Our Rotating Gallery allows member artists to exhibit their work around Concord and the Concord Area.

Our monthly Newsletter includes notices of other opportunities in the area to exhibit and/or sell their work. Whenever possible, we also include news of where our members are showing.

Video Library
We have a fine library of instructional video tapes, which are available for loan to members free of charge.

 

Newsletter
Our monthly Newsletter contains information on the upcoming meeting, minutes of the previous meeting, and CAA News. We have a monthly column on upcoming area events - with notices of shows, exhibits, and festivals to see and to enter. We also include member news and milestones.

Membership
In addition to ability to participate in the shows and other events of the Association, and receive our monthly newsletter, members receive discounts at some local art supply merchants.

Membership in the Concord Art Association is open to anyone who is interested in the goals of the Association. You need not be an artist to join, supporters of the arts are always welcome! Memberships are based on the Calendar year.

Annual membership dues are $20 for individuals, $25 for couples, and $10 for students. To join either ask for an application at one of our meetings or, send your name, address, and telephone number along with proper dues (check or money order, US funds on US bank only) to:
