Bob's Birding Adventures

Trip List
January 2002

January 18th - Lake Anza, Tilden Regional Park, Berkeley, Alameda County, California

Much of my wandering in the East Bay Hills was in search of a Varied Thrush. I got some great advice and help from the East Bay Birders Circle, but none of it panned out - until this visit to Lake Anza.

There they were, a male and later a female in plain sight. Gorgeous! I found them in the pumphouse area below the damn.

As with many of my trips - 10-noon was the time I birded.

Notable was the Red-tailed Hawk the circled overhead. It was the darkest bird I've ever seen, looking almost like a Harris' Hawk.
